Introducing our Generational Portfolio Service

Introducing our Generational Portfolio Service — a combination of our wealth management expertise with the power of Charles Schwab & Co., Inc.’s sophisticated technology platform called Institutional Intelligent Portfolios™ that allows us to build, monitor, and rebalance your portfolio — so you don’t have to.

Think of our Generational Portfolio Service as a “financial GPS” ideal for:

  • Investors in need of professional investment management but with portfolios as small as $5,000; or
  • Adult children or grandchildren of our existing clients who don’t need the comprehensive wealth strategies of their parents or grandparents — at least not yet!; or
  • Job-changers looking to take back control of their 401k assets at previous employers.

Designed specifically for online and mobile users, our Generational Portfolio Service uses an easy paperless enrollment process and ongoing online account management.  Get whenever, wherever access to your account through a browser or mobile app to access real-time account information, statements, and performance reports.

We’ve created a diverse set of 12 portfolios, carefully selected from a universe of over 450 low-cost Exchange Traded Funds from Vanguard, iShares, Schwab, and several other top fund providers.  The portfolios provide investment exposure in up to 20 asset classes across stocks, bonds, real estate, and commodities, as well as an FDIC-insured cash component, so they are truly well diversified.

We monitor the investment and portfolio performance on an ongoing basis to make sure the ETFs continue to provide consistency and diversity.  We can modify the portfolio allocations as needed to meet changing economic and market conditions — again, so you don’t have to.

Rebalancing is critical to successful investing. With any portfolio, natural market fluctuations increase and decrease the value of some of your holdings causing your asset allocation to stray from its target. When that happens, we rebalance by selling overweight asset classes and buying those that are underweight.

Our Generational Portfolio Service monitors your portfolio with daily check-ins and automatically rebalances across all asset classes, working to keep your investments consistent with your selected risk profile, which may help with investment growth and reduced volatility over time.

One of the most effective tools for offsetting investment-related taxes in non-retirement accounts is tax-loss harvesting -- selling a security that has lost value and simultaneously replacing it with a similar investment to keep your portfolio allocation on target.

The resulting realized loss can be used to offset gains from other investments in the portfolio.  If there are no realized gains to be offset, the loss can be used to offset up to $3,000 of ordinary income on your tax return.

Tax-loss harvesting can be a complicated and time-consuming strategy, but now our Generational Portfolio Service can implement tax-loss harvesting automatically on accounts of $50,000 or more that are enrolled in the service.

Over time fees and expenses can make a big dent in your bottom line. With just a small annual advisory fee, which we deduct directly from your account in quarterly increments, our Generational Portfolio Service has no commissions, no transaction charges, no annual IRA fees, and no account service fees — leaving you with more of your money to invest.
